why do so many men recently expect women to approach them first

we have prom in feb and the rehearsals have alr started and for majority of the dancers, it was the girls who asked the guy to be their partner

Alrighty then, let's all go back to 1830 where women had no right just for your selfish pleasure of "muh me wants to get approached by men", good luck marrying a 50 yo rich dude and have no liberties.
 
but traditionally marriages were often arranged for political/social/business ties, it was a contact between families and tribes etc, not between 2 people it is very different, also males get rejected much more then females do, if a female makes the first move it is more likely to work. Furthermore, many females make a huge fuss over an unattractive male approaching them and even accuse them of harassmnt etc.

interestingly enough ecology is related to this. in one of my environmental stats classes we were learning about how chemicals and xenoestrogens in the air, water, and food supply are causing male and female animals to swap roles in terms of mating practice and visual presentation. Basically the chemicals are making some animals intersex. Of course no research has been done on humans for this subject because surely it won’t effect us even though its starting to effect large animals.
