why do we still use wood in bathrooms?

why use a porous bacteria magnet that's difficult to clean when we have far superior metal and stone materials?

unless u have like asian type bathrooms where they don't separate the toilet and shower and the floors are always wet and stuff, I don't see the problem with wood. If u use the exhaust when u need to it should be fine
