because by being the first guy he’s essentially the quintessential human. created in gods image and perfection. Every other human would have to come from him and as the genes go down more mutations can happen thus becoming less ideal

the simplest explanation is that adam and eve were supposed to be made in God's perfect image, therefore they should be "perfect". it is illogical, though, to assume that God's perfection would match with what we consider perfect looks-wise
