so i was genuinely wondering why is makeup seen so negatively in the looksmaxxing community? (especially when it encourages other aesthetic procedures instead.)
because yes, makeup makes you look significantly better than your bare face, but isn’t that the whole point of lookmaxxing? the goal is to improve your appearance and maximize your potential, not to remain “natural.”
makeup is just one of the many ways to achieve that and the less invasive one. for example, if you can reduce your eye bags with concealer, why consider filler? of course this doesn’t apply when structural changes are needed, as makeup can’t fix a recessed maxilla.
the main argument against makeup is that you would look “different” without it, because it can be taken off. but that “better” version of you with makeup is still you. and you do look like that in real life when you’re wearing it.
that said, i understand there are exceptions. if someone has poor skin, just covering it with makeup shouldn’t replace actually taking care of it through skincare. and when it comes to preferences, such as preferring a more “natural looking” girl, well that’s fair. but most of the time even the girls considered natural looking are still wearing makeup. and when a girl truly wears little to no makeup, lookmaxxers are the first to suggest that she should start using some.
so I’m curious why makeup is often dismissed as “fake” or as frauding in looksmaxxing, when it clearly aligns with the same goal and is one of the safest ways to improve appearance.
