Regular erections, including those during sleep (nocturnal), are crucial for maintaining the elasticity and health of penile erectile tissues (corpora cavernosa), preventing fibrosis (scarring) and maintaining tissue stretchiness, which supports full erections, with studies showing a link between erection frequency and elastic fiber density. Without this "nightly training," tissues stiffen, hindering expansion and potentially leading to erectile dysfunction (ED). It is therefore important to sometimes get your penis erect, just to keep it healthy.
