Why Orcas Beat Hammerhead Sharks
1.
- Orcas can grow 20–26 feet long and weigh up to 6 tons
- Hammerheads are much smaller (usually 10–14 feet)
- Orcas have massive muscles and tails that give them incredible power
2.
- Orcas have one of the largest brains in the animal kingdom
- They plan attacks, learn from each other, and adapt strategies
- Sharks rely mostly on instinct, not planning
3.
- Orcas hunt in pods (family groups)
- They coordinate attacks, surround prey, and take turns
- Hammerheads usually hunt alone
4.
- Orcas know to flip sharks upside down, causing tonic immobility (temporary paralysis)
- Once the shark can’t move, it’s defenseless
5.
- Orcas can swim over 30 mph
- They have excellent control and agility, even in tight spaces
