I was considering getting a palate expander since my maxila seems to be recessed. The only issue is my face is already pretty wide and I don't want to look like an ogre or anything. Is it worth the risk?

Hmm from what I see, you might not need an expander. If you can see eight teeth it isn’t a narrow smile, just a normal one lol.
You could speak to an orthodontist about it just to make sure!
