Usually when someone says this, it isn't about the action but how much they care about the person that did the betrayal.
Why some cheaters are available to go back for instance, the victim thinks they can change another person because of a labeling thought process: they think x person cares about them the same. If that makes sense.
 
My cold, dark, and lonely soul, cannot possibly handle the anguish of a betrayal. It would cripple my being until I am nothing more than a husk of my former glory
But yeah I'd probably not care that much, I don't hold grudges like that
 
Traitors will be executed and examined for research purposes
