maybe it is grooming
i heard a cat may groom another cat it means that the cat doing the grooming is of superior social status
but if a bunny grooms another bunny, the one getting groomed is of superior social status

rats love to groom each other i'm pretty sure and it's actually a sign of affection and a way to bond
