Can you read kanji?
Yes. This word (日本語) is pronounced as “nihongo,” and it means “Japanese language,” the first two kanji means “Japan,” and the last one means “language,” so it literally means “Japan language.”

Mirin, are u learning Japanese rn? How long did it take to learn the alphabet? From what I’ve heard about kanji, Hangul seems very easy in comparison

I haven’t studied in almost a year but I should pick it up, I could become fluent. I will study it again once summer break starts, so early July at the latest.

And yes, Hangul is so much easier. I could probably learn it. And I forgot how long it took me to learn the alphabet. Kanji I still have to learn because of how many there are. I only know a few hundred.

I feel like since we already know sov languages, learning squishy languages isn’t so hard

What I’m finding hard right now with Korean is just learning all the different idioms and vocabulary
