Typically idk about other places but in UK managers don't make much money. Regardless the industry. I still think it's important to get a trade instead of relying on the potential raise to manager then regional manager etc. I'm a business analyst for instance and I can get into any business and industry. Manager is a job you also kind shave to be there physically w long hours. Idk I used to work in retail many years ago and mangers made minimum wage there ad work their ass off too.
