I've heard this quite a lot, Though for me ayn rand's philosophy is a neutral matter since I understand where she is coming from.
I think most people confuse her philosophy with being selfish, Their is a word in my language that I think fits it better, It translates to "serving oneself" rather than the english version which makes it seem more selfish
