this thread is about dreads and common flaws i see with them(also applies to twists)

delusions aside, you are not duke dennis, yes dreads can make you look better, but they aren't an instant cheat code.
if ur not at least mltn they r NOT saving u bud
dreads can cover up failos and increase aesthetic value, but only if the quality is there.
bad dreads + subpar skull = over with

thin dreads arenโt flattering on 90% of ppl. they exaggerate scalp exposure, make heads look longer, and lack volume. if your bone structure is not good then it can descend you badly.

lint, buildup, dandruff, and visible gunk all make you look like some kind of thug or bottomfeeder.

they look and feel brittle, flaky, ashy. it gives off the impression that you are too poor to maintain them properly.

(has this nga ever heard of conditioner?

thick dreads (medium to jumbo size) carry presence. they look fuller and can actually enhance your head shape. they add visual mass and reduce scalp exposure.

neat parting is very underrated. a well sectioned set = symmetry + aesthetic balance.

layered dreads that cascade, taper, or stack naturally? god-tier. it adds dimensionality and stops your head from looking like a mop. the shape should always contour with your face.

- retwist every 4โ6 weeks max
- donโt overdo it or youโll thin out your roots
- interlocking or crochet is valid if done cleanly

- lightweight oils (jojoba, argan, etc.)
- leave-in hydration sprays
- scalp massages = growth & health
- sleep with a satin/silk bonnet or pillowcase

- wash every 1โ2 weeks (residue-free shampoo)
- deep cleanse monthly (apple cider vinegar soak)
- get lint out (watch a tut on youtube i cba to explain)
