I'm 15 & turning 16 in April, and I've always had a very light period (sorry if this sounds strange) since forever but at the end of 2024 I started losing some weight due to anorexia and with that followed my period
since i was normally eating the same 200cals with maybe like 2g of fat a day for a few months straight and burning that same exact amount by walking.
Before that I had always been exactly in the middle of a healthy BMI-range, so around ~49kg, but this year in May I got hospitalized after dropping down to 28kgs at 155cm (Bmi11.7) and later got weight-restored to 52Kgs in Inpatient care. I've been steadily and rapidly gaining 24kgs for around 8 Months and I've been mantaining my current weight for a while now ever since I have been discharged, and my Doctor has literally even given me the green light to lose a bit of weight again now (since this is the heaviest I've ever been in my life but like huh) aslong as I stay inbetween 45-48kgs, but I haven't even gotten my Period back yet??

How is it possible for me not to have gotten it back yet especially if I'm currently the highest Bmi I've ever been, and is there even hope for me anymore aka am I cooked?? I've seen so many recovery stories where people get it back as soon as they get back to their original weight they had lost it at but I'm even more now. I know now that having it as a woman is really important according to most (looksmaxxing) advices for overall health and also Hormones +I've heard a lot about Estrogen and Hormones being important for women's development etc, but how is that possible for me as someone who's had hypothalamic Amenorrhea (a missing period) since nearly a year. And also what does that mean for me if my hormoens really are this cooked 💔

sorry if this post doesnt belong here or is triggering/ment to be spoilered more

You’re not cooked, I promise. With hypothalamic amenorrhea, periods may not return right away after regaining weight. For many people, there can be a delay that lasts several months. It's not just about BMI or reaching a specific number on the scale.. your body also needs time to feel safe again after long periods of stress and not eating enough. I have personal experience with this after recovering from an ED, and it took a crazy amount of time for everything to go back to normal. My whole process lasted around a year from start to finish. It’s scary to watch your body change, but the aftermath will be worth it.

Hormones often take longer to catch up with physical weight recovery, especially after serious restriction. This doesn’t mean they are permanently damaged. It just means your system is still adjusting. Many people don’t get their period back until their body has experienced a steady state for a while, not just weight gain.

The fact that you’re maintaining your weight under medical supervision and being monitored is a good sign. It’s important to keep discussing this with your doctor and possibly an endocrinologist. There is still hope. Recovery timelines can vary greatly, and yours isn’t “behind”. it’s just your own journey.

Also, try not to let looksmaxxing advice scare you. Health and hormones are complex. Missing a period during recovery doesn’t mean you’ve failed or that your body won’t heal.

thank you for taking your time writing this, this was really comforting and reassuring especially from someone with personal experience!! this made me feel a lot less alone and not like something was wrong with me, I honestly did keep it rather secretive before but i've decided that I'm now gonna be talking to my doctor more openly about this and ask more questions the next time I see her , thank you for your kind message ❤❤

I believe in you girl. It’s a rough process but one day you’ll look back at yourself and be so grateful that you could make it out.
