Are we rating current looks or looks potential?

I've noticed in Ratings, and most other channels, when someone (especially someone new to the forum) posts a picture and asks for a rating, the replies are split into rating their potential and rating their current looks?

I think since some of us are pretty brutal with our feedback, it may give the OP the wrong impression because they posted asking about potential (which they most likely have) and instead got a bunch of brutal "Its over"s and "rope" comments on their current appearance.

Mental Health is a big issue and no one should feel like they can never achieve their goals, especially if they're also being told (jokingly or not) to kill themselves. A lot of newer forum members and members of the looksmaxxing community arent even over the age of 16. They're all still growing.

If you had seen me at 16 and I asked for a rating, I woulda been brutally bullied (and I was, because I did ask for ratings on org and discord) and as a result I almost literally killed myself because I took the very-real looking threats and harassment seriously.

So lets try to clarify when we rate, that we are either rating their potential or their current looks. So no one, like me a few years ago, will be hurt so badly by the feedback and be open to understanding.

you're a very good user, any thread i've seen you post under, you've always had a high quality reply

It usually depends on what the person is asking for. If the user asks "Whats my looksmaxxing potential" then people will just say that, but if the user asks "Am I htn??" then people will correct them or confirm them yk?

I try, I just hope that we can make this community a bit safer and positive. Its what I needed when I came here and I never got it. So now I'm tryna get over the eating disorder I gave myself to cut weight.

Body dysmorphia ruins lives so lets try to not keep giving it to people who just want to look and feel better about themselves.

Yes, some people troll post or rage bait in Ratings. that's gotta stop too.

If theyre looking for validation they will ask their potential explicitly

If theyre tryna improve maybe a combination or where they stand now

I definitely agree to an extent, but it's just because a lot of people in these communities seem to have a negative outlook on life. And a lot of people don't even take saying shit like that serious because they're so desensitized to it.

I know a lot of people are desensitized. But the newbies coming in from Tik Tok aren't. They're just kids.
