Intro:
The Halo Effect is basically a cognitive bias where one positive trait (Looks and overall attractiveness) creates a deciding factor for a person's overall character. This post will examine the psychological reasoning for this, specifically focusing on The Contrast Effect (Where a n***a might select less attractive friends and people to hangout with as a ways of self enhancing, (massive copepill and also kinda fucked up but whatever)), as well as somehow the same n***a might also be Basking in the glory of others (BIRGing) others which kinda defeats the purpose of the first thing but n*****s be n*****s, the reason for this is mainly because they wanna associate with someone more attractive than them in order for them to gain status and be seen to have more "status". Finally I will also be delving into "Glazing" and wy n*****s do that too.
The halo effect is caused due to "System 1 Thinking" which is basically just your brain acting on only intuition and instinct, When we see a n***a that looks good, for example seeing a beautiful butterfly, but when u see a moth u cant help but think ' damn that n***a ugly '. Same with people, our brain uses the "What is beautiful is good" Stereotype.

The importance your brain gives to attractiveness is weighted more than any other unrelated trait, like intelligence, speaking skills and sometimes even confidence. this weighted attribution error basically gives more value to the attractiveness of the individual, often inflating the perceived value of unrelated traits asw

2. Paradox of association: Contrast Vs. Reflection
Why do individuals maintain friend groups where they are the most attractive member? (This is most of the time subconcious) This is explained vby the Social Subconcious Theory.

The Contrast Effect: Obviously if you hang around with people that have a perceived attractiveness lower to you, an individual can artificially and temporarily increase his "SMV" in many social gatherings or areas of importance.

Protecting ego: A group of people less attractive than you not only makes you more comfortable, because you subconciously are not "threatened" by anyone, but it also provides the said person with an ego boost. It also ensures a higher degree of social power and attention in that social group
Now conversely to contrast, with reflection people strive to be associated with n*****s who have a "higher psl" and perceived attractiveness. This can be explained by the idea of Status Transfer.
  • Being seen with people more attractive than you signals to other observers who perceive the rest of the crowd with the Halo Effect, that you have some kind of "Hidden Value". If you are accepted by people way more attractive than you, people start to think there might be something about him.
  • Associating with people who have a higher smv, gives the individual a sort of proxy power where the "halo" of the attractive person slightly transfers to the n***a ruining the 2 man, which temporarily lifts their social standing

3. Glazing & How Narcissists Surprisingly are the biggest glazers.

Glazing is a transaction. the n***a who glazes gives compliments, defence and attention while they receive:
  1. Proximity to status: by being the most vocal dickrider of the high status individual the glazer gets into the "inner circle" of the n***a (This is also prevalent in politics, like Heinrich Himmler glazing hitler (He was also somebody who was notorious for being an obsessive people pleaser) or most of trumps inner cabinet being against him previously, but after his win, they enter his own inner circle basically just glazing trump)
  2. Protection: glazing n*****s also provides the glazer a "social shield" from other people making fun of him as they are somewhat socially anxious of the n***a being glazed
Minion Strat: glazing is low risk, high reward for n*****s who actually lack the primary traits (Attractiveness, Wealth or Power) to lead, by attaching themselves to the actual "Leader" gaining the benefit of their "Leaders" status without any actual burden of maintaining it.

I believe that individuals with lower self esteem and more insecurities will exhibit a higher frequency of both glazing as well as Reflection, while individuals with high Narcissistic Traits will more frequently make use of the Contrast effect to maintain a perpetual halo.

At first glance it might be pretty obvious that this hypothesis is true, but while it seems like a narcissist’s ego would prevent them from glazing they would probably actually use it as a sophisticated tool for "Social Camouflage" and a way to elevate themselves.
Next time you observe a n***a glazing irl observe mainly if they initially glaze you like crazy within minutes of meeting you (I know somebody like this who at first i thought was pretty chill until I understood the person does somewhat portray narcissistic traits which kinda proved my hypothesis so dub)

There are two types of narcissists and I believe these are the methods they use to elevate their status
The Grandiose Narcissist (Reflector) & (Contrastor)
The Vulnerable Narcissist (n*****s who glaze)
