I'm surprised nobody has made a thread about posture yet because this is stupid important and I wish I corrected mine sooner, but this info is based on my experience.
Everyone tells you to sleep on your back and get braces, do facial muscle workouts, etc. but that is water and there are a lot of parts that get overlooked. I had Invisalign and I still looked asymmetrical when I was finished because that is slapping a band aid on a broken arm. I already sleep on my back and chew on both sides, so that wasn't my issue either. If you have scoliosis I doubt this thread will help you unless you get surgery to fix that. I have been told by doctors that my spine looks fine, but when I went to my orthodontist and got X-rayed, my neck looked super out of wack and nobody said anything. I noticed that my jaw bone isn't totally asymmetrical and that it's the muscles holding them together that have been screwing with my aesthetic. I also have less tailbone pain from correcting my posture.

1. Using your nondominant side
- Water take but here are things I overlooked.
- If you have shitty near eyesight like I do, you probably grew up hunching over your desk when writing or reading in school. Write and brush your teeth with your non dominant hand. My orthodontist said for some reason all my fluid was built up on one side of my nose. I had issues breathing, and legit when I wrote with my left hand it disappeared. I physically felt the fluid drain out. I also used to crack my neck after tilting my head when writing, which did not help at all, so I'm cracking it more to reverse that.
- If you're someone who leans on one arm sideways when watching on your phone, lean on the other side.
- If you have long hair and brush it on one side, brush on the other side with your non dominant hand. I have the habit of looking down on my hair when I brush it, and it's contributed to neglecting one side of my neck.
- This also can stretch out and strengthen your shoulders and back which brings me to my next point.
- I was planning on making these into separate sections, but that is literally impossible because all of these are connected together. The main focus is your neck, shoulders/shoulder blades, back, and pelvis.
- You should be able to do this pose with both arms.
- What helped me was strengthening my neck and shoulder muscles and stretching them out. Also if you feel strain on your arm, it's a sign you need to strengthen your shoulder and arm, otherwise there probably isn't enough muscle to stretch it. (This goes back to leaning on your arm, because the one you lean on is significantly stronger from shifting all your weight on it.)
- Use an inverted filter and put your hands behind your head like this. You might notice that your arms are leaning toward one side, that is a back issue. If you squeeze your elbows together you'll notice even more asymmetry, which is connected to your neck, shoulder, and back. You can correct this by pushing your head back and slowly squeezing the muscles activated while bringing your elbows in, and again, strengthening your weaker muscles. You can also stand up and T-Pose and shift your back and weight.
- Neck exercises are essential for your teeth placement. If you work on that in combo with your shoulders, you will physically feel your teeth shift with or without braces. I got headaches in the beginning, but I felt my lymph nodes drain more than gua sha ever has. I dealt with my nose shifting too. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube, but I recommend doing these very slowly on your own. Obviously also do these with an inverted filter too.
- More water, but I've seen very few advice given on correcting the root issue. Use an inverted filter to correct your stance is water advice, but also do squats with the filter. You will be able to notice the asymmetries in your pelvis that way. Basically workout as much as you can in front of an inverted filter before moving on to using weights, and if you already use weights, go see a physical therapist.
- Planks, plank variations, fire hydrants, and bird dogs will help you build up your core and back more to balance this out, but proper form is law. (Be more mindful when it comes to side planks, because you can overtrain one side and are more likely to not have proper form if you do that from the beginning.)
- The inverted filter is basically your best friend. I have my webcam on like all of the time whenever on my PC because it helps me so much. You have to do this often if you want it to be consistent, and your brain will be trying to figure out how to correct your asymmetries automatically.
- Don't keep crossing your legs and avoid using your phone in bed.
- Don't sit over your tailbone (water, but I developed this habit from being an iPad soy kid.)
- If you sit on your bed, don't lean against your headboard, that screws with your back and pelvis and for me it eventually lead to nerve damage. I couldn't feel my lower back.
- Same with nerve damage goes for sitting in general for long periods of time. I also noticed more cellulite from sitting, but I've been able to reverse some of it through walking. (My mom mentioned that she's been able to get rid of most of her cellulite through walking alone, and she is one lazy ass woman. Plus it boosted my collagen production overall and helped with my back posture.) Get out of sitting every 30-45 minutes if you can.
- Take up dance and workout classes if you can, this will help you socialize and raise your status and charisma. Men especially, there are plenty of women who take dance classes.
- This will not correct absolutely all of your facial asymmetry, but it will help you further the younger you are.
- Doing this made flossing a lot easier, meaning my teeth became more evenly spaced rather than slightly crowded.
