Since a number of you are Christians (which I didn't realize) and I am one myself, where does this whole self-obsession and looksmaxxing cross the line and become sin? I do believe that becoming a better version of yourself is important because even the Bible says "bodily exercise profits a little," but I understand than many people take it way too far and I even find myself getting caught up in too much of this stuff. Also the Bible says we are not to be anxious and to trust God but this extreme lookmaxxing can really tear you down and make you incredibly insecure and not trust God as much. So, what's your thoughts?

Don't partake in extreme looksmaxxing if you are Christian. Most hardmaxxers and hardcore starvemaxxers tend to fall from Christian values.

I agree, the Bible says "Pride goth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." So many of these more extreme looksmaxxer become incredibly self-obsessed and fall away from their creator.

taking care of ourselves physically isn't inherently wrong. 1 Timothy 4:8, the one you mentioned, says 'For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.' So maybe it's about finding a balance? taking care of our health and appearance can be a form of taking control over what God has given you
also being christian emphasizes being a good person, on the inside, and helping others. so think about inner beauty as well (ik it sounds cringe) compassion and kindess is more valuable but taking care of yourself is important too
then also your motivation for it, is it a sinful motivation? do you do it so that you can score sex with girls, or some other sinful advantage? is it from pressure, society telling you that you are ugly and pressuring you and making you insecure? these things can draw you away from god
but personally i am not christian i am agnostic i just wanted to help you, so sorry if i made some error :blobdance:

What do you mean?
being an incel getting rejected by women can make you:

- question why god made an imperfect world
- question why god made you physically unnattractive
- question why god made you suffer
- question why god doesn't give you a gf
- become a girl in order to escape the male redpill, and since many churches are transphobic this could make you quit church altogether.

God made us perfect in the beginning. It was because of the fall and corruption of the world through sin that every type of bad thing like disease, deformities, etc entered. And yes churches do not agree with transgenders because God made us male and female and we have no right to say God made us the wrong gender
