While waiting for full Tanner 5 sounds cautious, the evidence from 5α-reductase deficient individuals shows that near-total DHT suppression during development still allows normal bone growth, height potential, and facial maturation driven primarily by testosterone itself, so starting fin or dut earlier than Tanner 5 carries far less risk to your skeleton than the .org fear posts claim. Studies on young users and even kids with low DHT show no meaningful negative impact on BMD or fractures, meaning you can confidently say yes to dutasteride if you're already showing clear balding and want to protect your hairline without dooming your gains or frame. Get bloodwork, monitor, and pull the trigger if needed testosterone is the real driver, not DHT.

I was not talking about the skeletal development but the hormonal development, which DHT is necessary for. And there's multiple ways to do preventive work for your hairline without taking fin and duta, although those are the most effective undoubtedly.

For hairline prevention non hormonal options such as minoxidil microneedling and ketoconazole shampoo are effective first line approaches especially before full Tanner 5 though dutasteride remains the most potent intervention if significant balding occurs after major pubertal development.
