As you probably already know, testosterone stimulates the hypothalamic-pituitary axis to increase growth hormone secretion from the anterior pituitary, which then induces hepatic production of IGF-1, the primary mediator of linear bone growth. Rising testosterone levels during puberty accelerate hypertrophy in the epiphyseal growth plates. This leads to growth spurts, etc.

Not only does DHT inhibit glucocorticoid-induced growth suppression by remineralizing and lengthening the growth plate and restoring baseline proliferation, but it also locally potentiates IGF-1 by driving a local IGFI-mediated proliferative signal in chondrocytes.

Debunking that DHT reduces GH
Some research showed that DHT suppressed growth hormone because of the downward pressure it has on estrogen (estrogen is very important for GH secretion). DHT showed a reduction in plasma GH but no decrease in height growth.
