TLDR please if you cba reading all that just read red and pics and tell me if you would get an early revision :sadcat:

I got a sliding genio (H 10.4 mm & V 3.6 mm) + rhinoplasty done exactly 1 month ago

inb4 genio is cope yes I agree, and I knew going in what I needed was DJS (even if my OFMS recommended genio over bimax bc i have no functional issues–as if people can function recessed jfl). I went with genio bc I’m a coward and didn’t want to go through years of orthodontics atp (I don’t feel like the ROI is as good at 31 years of age), plus I really wanted the rhinoplasty asap which you can't get before bimax. Anyway that’s not the point, please don’t tell me I needed DJS, I already know that.

I’m making this thread because I feel like the SG made my chin noticeably asymmetrical/crooked. My surgeon said it’s the swelling that is asymmetrical and that it will look ok once it resolves. I asked for a second opinion and that OFMS, looking at my cone beam, explained how my surgeon did a very clean job, but that my chin was asymmetrical to begin with and by giving it more projection I might notice it more.

Fair enough, if I look at pre-op pictures now I can (kinda?) find the asymmetry if I look for it very closely. On the other hand, those pre-op pics are frauded because I compensated by moving my chin forward, which according to chatgpt is a good sign bc i was basically simulating a straight genio, but the asian ofms said it can still look different (i suppose because genio only moves chin and what i used to do was move everything forward as a unit). But now I feel like I’m legit deformed and it’s all I can think about 24/7 (i have taken over 100 photos of my chin in the past couple weeks). If it's temporary, then idgaf, my work makes it so if i choose to i can fuck off far from home for however long i want until i recover. But if my chin looks like this in 12 months I think it's over and ropemaxx material.

This is a critical period in time because the earlier you do a revision, the easier it is (bone hasn’t formed yet so he would basically just have to unscrew and rescrew). BTW does anyone have any idea why, if the chin was asymmetrical to begin with, a surgeon wouldn’t just make it symmetrical as part of the procedure? Shouldn’t it be a given, or do you really have to think about everything and leave nothing to chance when you’re hardmaxxing? I didn’t know I was asymmetrical so I never thought to say “hey btw make it symmetrical” SMFH. Frustrating too because he’s obviously very skilled as I had absolutely zero side effects from the moment I came to, shit pre-op I was so busy worrying and asking him about nerve damage this and fucked up smiles that and numbness and etc (fuck you reddit) that it never even crossed my mind to tell him oh yeah btw n***a also make it look good from the front lmao

I admit I do have body dysmorphia to a pretty severe degree so I’m really not sure if I’m overreacting or not. Side note if I look in the mirror I barely notice it but in pics it’s very noticeable (both in mirrored and unmirrored photos) so idk wtf.

Could some of you please tell me if my chin symmetry is cooked, and to what degree (i.e. would you in my position go through a revision?). Swelling resolution might improve things a little but the second OFMS said he didn’t find me particularly swollen. It was an autistic asian though so he couldn’t just be a normie and tell me hey it looks fine you’re overreacting or yeah get a revision you got cooked, just very matter-of-fact and neutral so it really didn’t help me make a decision. I’m getting a 3rd opinion next week, I wanted to get at least 5 different OFMS opinions but they’re all telling me go to your surgeon out of etiquette or something.

First, here is my before and after side profile, even if I don't think it's relevant to this thread. NOTE that this before picture was strictly taken for the purpose of comparison, but that nobody has ever seen my profile be that subhuman IRL because I would fraud 24/7 by advancing my lower teeth by 50 miles. As far as I know, nobody around me ever noticed I had a weak chin (I'm so mentally ill I wouldn't even chew gum around people). btw I was doing that unconsciously since I was a kid/teenager, I only became conscious of it a few years ago and mainly got the surgery because I thought it'd be a relief to not have to force my lower teeth forward anymore. So for this reason, as of right now, I prefer pre-op + side frauding (with new nose obv) over post-op + front crookedness. So please don't use the side profile to say it was a good trade-off, I will never see it that way because I used to fraud beyond the level it's at now even.

pre-op profile.JPEGIMG_5085.JPG

Now here are some pre-op pictures of my chin from the front, where I don't notice the asymmetry, or if I look very hard for it it doesn't bother me.
preop (4).JPEGpreop (3).JPEGpreop (2).JPEGpreop (3).PNG

and this is now post-op:
2025-10-01 (2).JPEG2025-10-01.JPEG2025-09-30.JPEG2025-10-07 (2).JPEG2025-09-30 (2).JPEG2025-09-30.JPG2025-10-05.JPEG2025-10-07 (3).JPEG2025-09-30 (3).JPEG

and this is if I stretch my skin / make faces, looks a bit better which I think is a positive sign that it might get better as swelling resolves (but I'm still very worried because the g**k doctor said he didn't see a lot of swelling). Also I think you can see that in all my post-op pics my left cheek seems more hollow than the right, which I guess could be a good sign that the right side of my face as a whole is more swollen? And now that I think about it, my nose post-rhino is more swollen on my right side (the rhino surgeon told me he would improve the symmetry of the nose so I'm not worried about the nose tbh, just making an observation in relation to the chin, but idk maybe it's cope)

SO:
would you, 1 month PO, in my position, get on a plane right now and ask for a revision? NB The asymmetry was already there and I saw it myself on the CT scan, but I think it's a normal level of asymmetry which people don't notice and which is why I never noticed it before... my concern is that the advancement of the chin might make that asymmetry very obvious but I honestly dk if I'm overreacting or not. So, to be clear, I'm not worried that my surgeon created a new asymmetry, I'm worried that he made it obvious to everyone, and it blows my mind that correcting it was not part of his plan. According to the 2nd opinion OFMS, my surgeon did a perfectly straight and parallel advancement, so technically the bone symmetry was unchanged, but he said the advancement itself can change how it's perceived.

You got upgraded bro but I ain’t reading allat
bro i assume you only looked at the 2 side pics?

i promise you when i frauded (i.e. all the time) it looked just as projected as the post-op, but better (not crooked) from the front… I’m specifically asking about my chin looking ridiculously off from the front

also, the purpose of my thread is to help me determine if i should get an early revision or not… so it being better than before in your opinion (although i completety disagree if you count frauding) is irrelevant to the question: would you got back to ask for a “lateral” revision, or do you think it’s within normal human asymmetry or will become so as swelling resolves?

I don’t think it looks ridiculously off.

if its making you uncomfortable you should but it still is too early the recovery and full effect might take more than a month

i’m trying to take myself out of the equation as much as possible and ask what people who overly care about their appearance—this forum—would do.

a second surgery does carry risks, which i avoided them all the first time, but they increase with revisions (more scar tissue, worse incision, etc.) Also not sure my surgeon would agree to do it, when I brought this up 2 weeks ago he was very confident that it was just soft tissue swelling

so if it’s a non-issue (or if it’s very likely to become a non-issue as swelling resolves) then i don’t want to be a dumbass who takes an unecessary risk to correct something that has no relevance to my facial attractiveness. Like what if i get permanent numbness or a thinner lower lip or deeper labiomental fold etc. etc. the risk/reward needs to be worth it, that’s why i’m asking for unbiased advice. I do ok with females usually but in this state i would have zero confidence in that, rn i wouldn’t even go see a girl that was already infatuated with me pre-op (not that i’m going out before my nose heals anyway but if i still look like this in 6-12 months then in my mind it’s totally over).

i mean i can dump the last 50 pics of my camera roll in DMs if that helps your assessment lol

Have you tried posting this on r/jawsurgery or even just .org? You'll get better feedback on there I bet. I don't think many people here know much about this. Personally I do think it looks a bit off
