I haven’t seen any one talk about this although I’m sure it has been talked about before I just haven’t peeped

But with a cuff around the elbow or bicep and preforming a simple flap it will replicate a pec fly bc it is also preforming shoulder adduction.
You can set it up with a cable and sit on bench for stability. And it would limit should involvement which limits many ppl on a pec dec, but it will involve side delts but with the cuff it would be minimal. I’m not saying it is vastly superior to a pec fly but just an alternative

@Jack-O'-Lantern have you seen these before? I would be happy to know if ppl have pointed out its flaws before

It would be a descending resistance profile but around the final 20 degrees of movement wouldn't it get way easier? I'll draw a picture of what I mean when I get hoe

I don’t think would get easier since the resistance is still being applied from the cable, and at that point would be the concentric part of the movement. The same as the squeeze from the pec dec. the movement would need to be done with the elbow a bit in front of the shoulder since we are in the frontal plane and don’t want lat involvement

The only problem with this would be the stability part, bc on a bench we would need ab involvement for stability. But if we put a plate where our feet would be and Mabye a seatbelt this could help.

I’m just brainstorming since I thought of this exercise a few days ago and been trying to see if it has been talked about
