What I mean by 'passed down from generation to generation' is the fact that parents/mothers or even teachers would teach their impressionable children/daughters (or even indoctrinate them) in purity culture. Which perpetuates it, but also makes their children's personal beliefs be the purity culture.

And if a lot of people do this exact thing for either religious reasons or for a 'societal norm' then you get situations where "everyone" publicly shames you. Because their parents/institutions taught them to.

1/ Most women are unconsciously attracted to guys who got laid, back then it means he was gl enough to be choosen, for his genes in order who can survive and get yourself stronger babies. It's called preselection in psychology iirc.
That unconscious thing is still applying to our modern world, with girls shaming/being disgusted by men for being virgins or not getting girls/laid.

2/ On the opposite, men are unconsciously attracted to women who have low bodycount because back then it was obvious they didn't wanted to take care of a woman who is pregnant from an other man (Would you take care of an other man's child as a woman ? No ? Then you'll understand).

At some point it was so bad when 1 guy got pregnant multiple women (who was forced to be alone, with no food, no job, no govt help etc) that countries/religion had to apply marriage and monogamy, and pushing the "no sex" before marriage to assure stability for women (better at the time than being alone homeless with a kid and no food or money) and their offsprings.

In our modern world, the ones who like fucking whores are also a small % of the male population who can be degen with them, through their gl or their money. Most majority of people don't want whores near them.
Also, lot of women are lying about their past so sadly, lot of men can end-up with a whore against his will.

Back then paternity and inheritance mattered way more, so female promiscuity got policed harder.
