How I achieved sleek healthy hair as someone who uses heat daily + How I maintain straight hair daily as someone with natural curls

Shower
The shower is where everything starts, this is crucial as a bad base will kill your potential.
  1. Regularity: You should be washing your hair 1-3 times a week depending on oil production/ fineness. I shower daily so to avoid damage to my hair I wear a shower cap when I am not washing it.
  2. Pre-Shampoo: Before shampooing your hair wet it and apply a hair mask for around 10-15 minutes. This is the hair mask I personally use. https://www.amazon.com/Pantene-Miracle-Intensive-Strengthens-Conditioning/dp/B0CGKRDWGB?th=1
  3. Shampoo and conditioner: I use Loreal Elvive d duo for shampoo + conditioner. I have tried high end as well as drug store products, but this set has been the absolute best for glossy + healthy looking hair, and it comes at a much cheaper price than keristas.
  4. Shower brush (curly): The brush I use in the shower is similar to a wide tooth comb. I don't use a regular brush when my hair is wet as it's a bit too harsh, this brush separates the curls without damage
  5. Drying: Drying your hair after showering is one of the most important steps to prevent frizz. I use a cotton hair-specific towel till its about 1/2 way dry then let it air dry. You can also substitute a hair towel with a 100% cotton T-shirt.
  6. Oil: After your hair is FULLY dry the next step is oil. I oil my hair the night before I straighten it, DO NOT straighten your hair directly after applying oil to it. I use the OGX coconut miracle oil but the oiled you use should depend on your hair goals. I am not trying to grow my hair just maintain its strength so keep that in mind.
Straightening / Styling

  1. Tools: In order to maintain my straight hair, I have tried millions of heat tools, but the brand wavy talk has the absolute best tools in my experience. The tools they sell use steam to lock in the moisture of your hair and prevent re curling I own multiple of their tools, and it truly changed the way I straighten my hair.
  2. Brush: The brush you use on your hair daily has a HUGE effect on the way it looks. For a very long time I used a plastic tangle teaser on my hair, which was fine but it wasn't doing me any favors. I recently switched to a boar bristle brush, and I have noticed a major difference in the shine of my hair/ the frizz. A good boar brush can run into the 100s, so I recommend splurging on this purchase as I believe it's worth it
  3. Products: Before I straighten my hair, I apply
    1. Heat protectant (let sit for 5 minutes)
    2. Glossing spray (let sit for five minutes)
    3. After I straighten my hair, I apply
      1. SPRAY oil (not regular oil, the pray version is much lighter and will stop your hair from looking oily and gross)
  4. Sleep: I'm sure everyone has heard this but I either sleep with a bonnet or silk pillowcases every single night.
  5. Services: Personally, I don't get my hair colored as I like my natural brown but every 3 months, I go to the salon to get my hair trimmed to promote healthy growth and I get a keratin treatment done to my hair every 3-5 months to prevent frizz and to have a sleeker look.
