I actually wouldnt recomend using water too much to take away from hunger. You should use the hunger to shrink your stomachs capacity slightly so that you would feel less hungry over time. That way after youre done edmaxxing then you wont beinge or overeat and repeat the cycle. Id genuienly recomend doing a sport instead of 10k steps, both work though. A good meal rec would be greak yogurt with fruits and low cal granola or oatmeal. Also try to take supplements for nutrients you might be missing when in a deficit. Ex: you eat less so you dont get enough zinc or magnesium.

some things that help me are actually measuring out my food with a food scale

you really can't trust eyeballing portions, so having an exact measurement for your food will make the calories be almost exactly on the label.

do exercises that are actually fun! just dance, treadmill/stepper while watching a show, walking instead of taking a bus.

counting calories is the only way in my opinion, because its really easy to be somehow hundreds of calories over when you thought you were under/at your limit. don't freak out or over eat if you already have that day, your progress is NOT ruined and just start again tomorrow.

allow yourself to eat the things you are craving!! just do it in moderation and plan the rest of your meals that day around your craving.
 
also!! drink so much propel (flavored electrolyte water) or crystal light, and obviously water. these things really helped me! propel has negative calories technically since you burn off the minimal calories (like 5) while drinking it.

Walk outside while you’re on your phone instead of just laying at home this has helped me a lot
 
build up to 15-20k steps daily
calorie deficit
cut out a large portion if not completely of sodium and sugar

Measure the oil youre putting in your food, you can easily gain weight by too much oil in your food. Try to use 1 cal oil sprays. I also like to replace most of my food with cucumbers. I lost a kilogram in like 3-4ish days. Not to mention counting calories is kinda like too much and youll just end up binging. Just eat your fruits, veggies and meats/eggs and such. Also eat 2 meals a day or 1 meal a day depending on what you prefer

protein sparing modified fast if you have muscle or water diet if you don’t and walk a ton
