Very true, and that's what makeup is actually based on. The contouring of the face relies on how light falls on it and which angles create more shadows. That's why makeup works so well. For men, they use beards, but a beard is very limited; it can only create a more symmetrical face or fake a longer jawline by making the beard longer on the chin.
The only difference i see with that is a beard is natural and makeup isn’t.
