How I failed my palate expansion (I'm very dumb) Avoid this at all costs.
Times might be wrong
I have a narrow palate and a one-sided crossbite, so I wanted a palate expander. After I got one (RPE/rapid palate expander), the expander was a rapid palate expander since my maxilla sutures are still open.
I had to turn the expander every time before I went to sleep. I didn't turn it the first night because I'm retarded and didn't manage to turn the expander. So I turned the palate expander every day, but I forgot it often. I went to sleep without turning it because I was so tired and went to sleep accidentally.
I had immense pain in the first week; it felt like my teeth were ripped out. But after 1-2 days, I had less pressure in my teeth and more in my palate.
I had an appointment every 2 weeks; I had no gap after 2 weeks.
I got a small teeth gap approximately at this time.
What happened after that?
I basically turned the expander wrong; I didn't turn it all the way, so I couldn't turn it anymore. I should have gone to the orthodontist the next day, but I only went after 2 weeks a very bad mistake.
Instead of expanding my palate, it tilted my teeth. The little metal things were peeking out under my canines and under my teeth. My right molar tipped a lot, but my left didn't so much. I got an open bite from the side, and my front teeth didn't touch anymore, and the midline was far off now.
I had an appointment after this happened, and they could turn back the palate expander or remove it. They removed it. It felt like I was freed from something. I had a little expansion primarily from the tooth tipping.
They installed a retainer in my mouth and connected it to my molars like an expander so the little expansion I got stays like 1 mm. After that, I will get Damon braces.

What i missed out on
I basically don't have an expansion now. I missed out on smile benefits, midface improvements, crazy breathing benefits, zygomatic benefits, asymmetry benefits, and little to no eye area benefits.
I still will get Damon braces after this, probably to fix my one sided crossbite, the midline, and my crooked lower teeth.
I still hope that I get some aesthetic benefits from the Damon braces.

For anyone that will get a palate expander in the future
Avoid this at all costs. Turn the expander every day and listen to your orthodontist.
