How to achieve high contrast

I see that high to med contrast is optimal but how on earth does one get high contrast if you’re born with nearly black but brown eyes ✌️ I naturally am pale with dark brown hair but recently I’d gotten highlights but I feel like they wash me out if I’m not self tanned but when I am self tanned I fear I may have low contrast.. help please xoxo 🥹💋
