I am planning to start using Tretinoin to improve fine lines and overall skin clarity, but I am extremely hesitant because of my skin type. My face is naturally dry, prone to redness, and easily gets compromised whenever I introduce new active ingredients.

I’ve read countless stories of people experiencing months of deep breakouts, raw red patches, and severe peeling. Given how delicate my skin barrier already is, a heavy breakout cycle would leave me with long-lasting dark spots and severe flaking. I am trying to figure out how to avoid the Tretinoin purge on sensitive dry skin completely—or at least keep surface irritation to an absolute minimum from day one.

Standard pharmacy retinoid creams and high-alcohol gels seem way too aggressive for dry skin types because they release the active ingredient all at once, stripping the skin's lipid barrier. I am looking for a modern, hydrating retinoid formulation—ideally slow-release or barrier-supportive—that stimulates collagen production without triggering chronic dryness or intense purging.
