What is Post-Inflammatory Erythema?
Post-inflammatory erythema (PIE) a is a common acne-related sequelae with limited treatment effect.
PIE is less responsive to topical and oral drugs, It usually goes away on its own in months
its just blood vessels showing under the skin.

However here are some steps you can take for faster results

1. IPL device and similar protocols

"The treatment included three to seven sessions at 4–6-week intervals, and three cut-off filters (640 nm, 590 nm and 560 nm) were used sequentially in each session." With upto 81% of the patients showing partial clearance of PIE.

Most IPL devices emit 400–1200 nm wavelengths targeting porphyrin, melanin, haemoglobin and water.

2. RF microneedling
Fractional microneedling radiofrequency has also been evaluated for the treatment of PIE given its anti-inflammatory effects and ability to cause dermal remodelling.
Example:

Tiny needles go 1.5 mm deep
Deliver radiofrequency heat (2 MHz) into skin
3 sessions total
Spaced about 4 weeks apart

3. low dose isotretinoin
(10mg/day) low-dose isotretinoin alone can significantly decrease PIE
Combing it with YAG 1064 Nd laser increased the results more than just isotretinoin alone

Other Topical treatments

1. Topical hydrocortisone

2. Topical vitamin C
The role of vitamin C in acne-induced PIE hasn’t been studied extensively. However, it’s been shown to be effective at reducing erythema caused by ultraviolet B (UVB) rays. Since it also has skin lightening properties, vitamin C may be beneficial for people who have PIH as well as PIE.

3. Niacinamide

A form of vitamin B3. It reduces inflammation and helps skin retain moisture. Niacinamide may have some benefit for PIE when applied topically.

If you have large-scale PIE, it doesn’t respond easily to topical solutions, seeing a dermatologist can help.

Doesn't it block inflammatory pathways?
All it does is reduce inflammation for a week. If you use any product for only a week it won't do shit. Use it any longer and you're getting an acne bomb that can cause futher pie
