This is another part I hate, so many self proclaimed christians will sin and sin and be shitty people but think of repenting as some magical undo button. You are absolutely insufferable if you think this way.

Knowing that everything that matters to you starting with yourself is momentary is kinda scary. Religion helps drawing a clear picture of what’s going to happen after death and some people don’t question it either because it’s deeply ingrained in the culture they’ve grown in or because that’s the only thing they found to help them face this existential crisis. Also, religions draw communities together so even if you don’t really believe or is involved spiritually in it, it gives you a sense of community.
