is there any way to feel less nervous to go to the gym like actually,,, i'm not super familiar with 'gym culture'(i'd say that i'm still pretty active though, i go on walks sometimes and do sports) and i don't wanna mess things up the first time i go to spare myself the embarassment. i don't really have anyone to go to the gym with. what did you guys do to integrate yourselves into this the first time you went

most people don’t really know that what they’re doing is correct and that what you might be doing is wrong

those who do generally tend to be mature enough to either say nothing or help

I was super lost the first time I went no one cares and my gym wasnt even big so but it was always kinda crowded so people where near u and tehy never cared

fairs. i'm probably gonna be welcomed cordially, or at least welcomed in a non harsh manner at all, and in a non-harsh manner, but what's keeping me from doing it is how self-conscious i'm gonna feel throughout😅that's the scary part

i don’t know what you’re expecting but it’s not as social as you seem to think it may be - doesn’t have to be anyway. Many times i go to the gym i don’t say a word to anyone unless i see someone i know. also depends on the gym i used to be at one where everyone knew each other and it was very friendly

but yes you will be fine, there are loads of people in your position

Just have common courtesy

Only way is to have no shame tbh. You will probably look stupid for a while after starting as you learn stuff and your body and muscles acclimate to lifting. Such is life and trying anything new.

Also, try going to a smaller gym or beginner friendly gym first, like an apartment gym or planet fitness. Your likely to find people who look as stupid as you.

I started out at my college apartment gym where there were only ever like 3 people max.

we always laugh at the new members when they try something and do it not perfect. i gather them around the new n***a and we start throwing bench barbells into him
