I never really had pimples or acne on my face, always on my arms, chest and back. my face isn't smooth, I've been improving my diet but that doesn't seem to help, I decided to use some creams and such to help with that, I have sensitive skin, I've talked with someone and they told me I should use azelaic or salicylic acid. I don't really know what I'm doing so can I get some advice? If you guys recommend anything please let me know.
This isn’t professional or knowledgeable advice, and I have personal bias as somebody not prone to much acne, (even at my worse i never had enough to leave permanent scars on my face).
That being said, what cleared my skin was just cycling through products (make sure they’re natural without fragrance or anything). Until I found something that worked for real, greasy hair touching skin also contributes to acne. Make sure your shampoo and conditioner is Fragrance-Free (I use cera-ve conditioner and shampoo), my routine which i’ve stuck with daily for right now is Cera Ve SA cleanser, then after that I use a small amount of Eucerin eczema relief cream as moisturizer. The eucerin was a game changer for me i used to suffer from dry skin badly on all parts of my body and I’ve rid myself of it completely, (excluding dry skin between my fingers, but that’s partially from my itching habit and my laziness to apply it to my hands.). I also don’t use too much moisturizer on my nose/i wipe it off after to prevent oily-ness and clogged pores. A finishing touch which helped me this month has been retinol. I just apply it to my nose, my upper zygos, and around my eyebrows. My nose for blackheads, my eyebrows for acne, and my upper cheeks for an even skin tone/blush on my face as retinol can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, but a natural slight burn along the nose and upper zygos can increase appeal. I also use the tiniest like grain of rice sized amount of sunscreen to help protect the sensitive skin (use a very small amount if you do itll give a white cast if you use too much). My last tip and most important tip, I said the skin care routine helped my facial acne, but I’ve never had anything work for my back acne, arm acne, or ketosis pilares; Sunlight
Sunlight is cleared my acne almost completely, evened my skin tone, and brightened my hair (i’m a natural blonde so i’m not sure how this applies to other hair colors).
Acne sucks and it’s a hard and misfortunate thing to have to go through I hope this held atleast a little value and I hope you can get it fixed soon.
P.S. Accutane has worked great for lots of people I know and it isn’t something you should be afraid of. Also being hygienic, eating healthy, and being a healthy body fat % holds probably the most significance in regards to acne.
