I want to preface this by saying that I am broadly a Christian. It may sound disrespectful to argue that Jesus was an LTN, however, that is because people's brains are wired to respect more attractive people. Disagreeing with this conclusion is largely because people hate the unattractive and people are uncomfortable with accepting that their saviour was not a PSL 8 mogger, not because there is a good argument that Jesus was above LTN.

Debates about Jesus' appearance in popular discourse typically discuss his hair length and skin color. The apostle Paul mentions in 1 Corinthians 11 that a man having long hair is a negative trait, troubling popular depictions of Jesus as having long hair, and genealogies of Jesus' lineage are debated to determine how dark or light Jesus' skin was.

These do not really matter, as it is obvious to any reasonable person that you can be exceptionally attractive with a variety of hair lengths and skin colors.

The more pressing concern is to do with if Jesus was generally beautiful while on earth. Depictions of Jesus may differ on miscellaneous traits, but throughout much of history, Jesus has been portrayed as beautiful in paintings, movies and television. The only exception in recent times is this depiction that claims to have been formed using forensic science:

This image pissed off a bunch of conservative Christians, but the debate claimed to focus on his skin color. These conservatives were most likely angry mostly because it portrayed Jesus as an LTN and they don't even realize it jfl. I don't care how accurate this exact depiction is, but it just goes to show how many Christians find it unsettling that Jesus could be unattractive. Also, Christians who were pissed would probably still be angry even if Jesus had lighter skin in this image, it's more so about his lack of harmony.

We can actually know for certain that Jesus was not beautiful. Isaiah 53:2, a text that prophesies about the coming Messiah, unequivocally states that there is "nothing in his appearance that we should desire him". The next verse then states that he was to be despised and rejected by mankind. Whether this implies a correlation between being despised for not being beautiful is up to interpretation, but the certain takeaway is that Jesus was not beautiful on earth.

This verse in Isaiah points to the LTN range as it does not hint at any obvious deformities or anything that would put Jesus below LTN, and nothing being particularly redeemable about his appearance fits the LTN range best IMO.

Jesus being LTN helps explain why he was despised by the world so much as during his ministry, he experienced worse treatment because of his looks by many outside of his immediate circle. Many of his teachings may have been rejected by others simply because he was not perceived well because of his looks.

I would go as far as to say that this was intentional. God incarnate made sure that those who trusted him during his ministry did so out of genuine faith rather than believing a beautiful person as we are already inclined to do that.

Fucking disgusting to even bring any kind of shame to him
Like do u really need to point that out?

its not necessarily bad to say Jesus was LTN at all but also understandable why the simple minded would take it to offence knowing how and what this generation thinks of unattractive people.

If this is ur reaction then i think you have a problem with unattractive people/you are lookist. If the Bible says that his appearance was not particularly desirable, why is that bad to point out?

im pointing it out because its accurate, i havent seen many ppl talk about it, and because this forum is related to lookism

interesting that you think being physically less attractive is "shameful" as if its a moral failing

he literally the son of GOD and the savior of humanity
yeah i agree. but the bible points out jesus' lack of beauty so why is it disrespectful to talk about it and what that logically could mean?

Jesus had to be attractive, there is no way anyone would have taken him seriously if he wasn’t

Jesus had to be attractive, there is no way anyone would have taken him seriously if he wasn’t
one of the main talking points in the NT is literally how the Jews didnt take Jesus' claims seriously. even one of his disciples didnt take his claims seriously and betrayed him. a very small number of ppl believed him during his ministry

Finally a respectful lady here
This post is obviously slandering god
Definitely not.
There was no point of pointing it out
And every Christian knows this
If every Christian knew this he wouldn't be needing to point it out.
Or do you really think the average Christian knows that Jesus wasn't a white, straight hair dude with brown eyes?

C'mon here.

Why would you degrade our savior just by his looks?
No one is degrading anyone he's just using facts and logic to determine whether he was attractive or not.

He doesn't directly disrespect Jesus/God a single time.

I'm a Catholic myself but you guys are a shame.

Don't think it'd matter if he was chad back then, he was bound to be doubted and crucified either way

So I don't see how looks impacts what happened

yeah bro looks dont matter its not as if fwhr is scientifically shown as a strong predictor of success or anything. why do so many ppl on this thread seem to not even believe in the phenomenon of lookism outside of dating. like looks just magically lose all value in everyday life. looks impact EVERYTHING

Except He knew the plan since the beginning so it doesn't matter. He was gonna get crucified anyway
Hope you're not saying looks are over God's plans

sure. but then if Jesus looked better he would have been treated better by the world and possibly spared from being crucified (he almost was spared by Pilate). God's plan includes Jesus not being exceptionally beautiful because thats how God wanted His incarnate self to be perceived by the world

Did read.

An interesting thread.

Idk why people are so pissed over it.

this thread is something lmao, but tbh it is lowk possible he coulda been ltn-lmtn/mtn since people were deffo pissy over his looks
though i find it interesting how some people get made over calling Jesus unnattracive / unconventionally attractive since it literally
has no correlation with the religion , just shows how much looks will ALWAYS matter

Ok, fair

'those' ones use Christianity to push pro-white views
Can't even handle someone else with a darker skin shade but act proudly Christian
exactly, and then they always try to say how jesus' skin doesn't matter bc their too pissed
and its hella weird since its quite literally a sin to judge people

not essentially, people dont always care about looks. if u claimed to be super powerful,
people gonna be pissy especially the ones who only care abt having all power.
he deffo would have still been crucified whether he was conventionally attractive or not

You can judge but only in a fair manner, meaning by the words of the Lord only, not with our opinion

"John 7:24: Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”

Unfortunately not everyone who claims to be a Christian lives like one, that's why people should look by the teachings and not the people first

For sure, I mean imagine some random guy claiming to be God, and before Abraham

Would've been hated regardless, looks help to an extent

mb I worded it wrong ik you can obv judge someones heart and soul, but looks and etc aren't really it yk

He was crucified because the Jews demanded it. Pilate saw no reason to crucify him and felt bad doing so. Regardless, people always subconsciously care about looks in all facets of life.

Ok im not claiming that Jesus would not have been crucified at all if he were MTN+. But what i am claiming is that his treatment on earth can be partly explained by his looks. He was especially hated and genuinely not that many actually took him seriously. And im arguing that more people would have taken him more seriously if he was more attractive than he was

They demanded the crucification because the Jewish religious leaders (Pharisees and Sadducees) had accused Jesus of blasphemy since he had claimed to be the Son of God, said he was equal to God (as they are the same, referring to the Trinity), and had forgiven sins. There is much more too it as well, but also because he has influence over the Jews (as he was/is a Jew himself). But they also had feared that these claims could have caused rebellion against the Roman rule, which would have resulted in harm to the Jews from the Rome.

While yes, Pilate was pressured into it (as he tried to give alternatives and such), it ultimately had nothing to do with his looks. They still would not have taken him seriously if he'd been more attractive, as there is no actual correlation. The Jewish leaders would still have those fears. Some could have followed him if he was more physically pleasing, though it would still have resulted in this punishment.

how are you even on this forum if u dont believe in the general axiom that looks largely determine success in life lmao.

it doesnt matter what purported reasons you can name; the lookist view would argue that these accusations and negative responses ultimately come from Jesus being perceived poorly for his looks, that is the underlying cause

im not gonna try and debate blackpill ideology with u because i was under the impression that people on this forum are broadly blackpilled.
