Lips are undoubtedly very important.
Preferences for lip size vary depending on gender. For women, they are generally more important. This erogenous zone is linked with estrogen and seen as a sign of fertility. As for men, full lips are seen as seductive and genetically fit.
Super thin lips are a sexual turn off, especially with their importance in kissing.
Sorry but who wants to kiss that?
Thereâs obviously not one singular âbest lip surgeryâ, because people get lip augmentation surgeries for a variety of different reasons.
These pictures below show the most common cases in which people seek surgery.
Case A Case B Case C
I love looking into and learning about different surgeries, and I want to help people to find the right ones for them. Here is an overview of the many kinds of lip augmentation.
CHEAP TO EXPENSIVE
Botox lip flip/lift
$80-500
Probably the cheapest type of lip augmentation. A Botox lip flip is exactly what it sounds like, itâs non surgical and theyâll inject Botox to relax your top lip. Itâll affect the length of your philtrum and add a bit more plumpness to your top lip. Itâs not the best option since itâs temporary, but if youâre going for a cheap temporary fix, this oneâs not a bad pick.
Plasma fibroblasting
$250-700
While microneedling and dermastamping are similar procedures, fibroblasting is a step up from them. Fibroblasting uses a strong heat based tool (plasma pen) and instead of touching the skin, you hover it over the desired region and it created heat induced scab marks. Triggering your bodyâs healing response. The cool part about this is, you can diy one of these miniature lip flips yourself, if you really wanna go the extra mile and save more money. Plasma pens are available online for as low as 80 bucks and arenât very complicated tools to use.
One thing thatâs important to be aware of when it comes to fibroblasting is it is NOT recommended for dark skinned people. If you are lower than Fitzpatrick lll, fibroblasting can cause hyperpigmentation or even hypopigmentation. Sorry to my ethnic bhais.
PDO threads
$500-1.5K
Dissolvable threads are inserted into your skin and boost collagen. These are usually used for face lifts, so some people have tried these around the mouth for lifting the lip and and/or volume to it. This is another fix that you can even DIY for cheap (pdo threads are available via Amazon, eBay, and lots of online beauty stores). Some surgeons disagree with pdo threading on the lips for a few reasons. Your lips are a common area for movement, so your threads are prone to shifting and coming out of your lip. Following protocol is important with this procedure. Do not expect huge results from threads, these are more of a subtle enhancement type thing. Youâd have to use quite a few threads to get results that are even comparable to something like filler.
Lip filler
$500 - $1.5K+
Now, when it comes to fillers, hyaluronic acid fillers are the most popular pick. The reason filler is frowned upon is because people donât understand that less is more. You want to limit yourself when it comes to fillers, because if you add too much you are fucked. But the bright side is, popular fillers like hylauronic acid are dissolvable with hyaluronidase. So if you donât like your results, you can dissolve them.
Iâm not very crazy about recommending these either because 1. They are temporary 2. People constantly fuck them up 3. People expect way too much from them. Iâm not saying they are evil, but generally speaking you shouldnât expect much from them. Fillers should be used minimally, especially with your lips. You wouldnât want to get duck lips. 1-3 mL max is what would be best. But overall, this is a good thing to spend your money on if youâre more on the broke side and donât want to spend a lot on your face. Itâs a great temporary fix if youâre planning on getting something better later on. Filler will last about 6 months, so youâd have to get them redone. You can also DIY this instead if youâre careful.
But whatever you do, donât get filler that is undissolvable.
Implant
$2-5k
Now weâre talking permanent solutions. Many would recommend filler over implants because if your implant shifts, itâll almost look like a third lip. But as long as you take precautions in the first two months as it heals, the probability of the implant shifting afterwards is minimal. Consulting someone who specializes in lip implants would be the best route. In the case that you donât like how it turns out, you donât need to fear. Thereâs certain brands of implant that are designed to be easily removable. Itâs hard to find info or reviews on lip implants nowadays because they were more popular back when lip filler wasnât a thing.
Fat grafting
$2-6K
The world of fat grafting is truly incredible. Not only can you get mogger under eyes, but you can also transfer fat to your lips. Many surgeons actually wouldnât recommend fat grafting to the lips, since the lips are a muscle and thereâs not a lot of natural fat in them. Because of that, fat wonât survive easily in the lip and itâll probably go away after a few weeks or migrate elsewhere. Because of that, people fall into a cycle of getting this redone over and over again. This is frowned upon since fat grafting is notably more expensive is supposed to be a permanent solution. Microfat grafting is the preferred technique for lips rather than regular macrofat. Since adding fat to your lips can change their structure and even change the color of them. Despite these advisors, there have been successful instances.
Surgical lip lift
$2.5K-9K
Surgical lip lifts are widely fear mongered because of the supposed scar that they leave. Even though many claim that theirs have healed successfully. There are a few different kinds/techniques of a lip lift. There are upper lip lifts (where they make an incision right along your nasal base) and direct lip lifts (where they make an incision along the vermillion border). An upper lip lift/bullhorn style is more recommended because the scar would be in a more concealed location. There is also a âV to Yâ technique which is marketed as a completely scarless option. Because it takes place inside the lip, advancing the mucosa. In this case, they donât actually extract skin from your philtrum. So instead of actually shortening your it, it just gives the illusion that itâs shortened. Combining this with a bullhorn lip lift would make your philtrum gigashort.
Iâm sure most of you are also familiar with the
importance of a wide mouth. Having a shit nose to mouth ratio will completely fuck someoneâs harmony. Laterally wide lips are proven to be more attractive and especially on women. So how can you successfully widen your mouth?âŚ.
Lip commissuroplasty
$2-5k
$2-5k
Just by looking at the photo, I can feel the wounds

This surgery is kind of a meme since itâs usually not performed for aesthetic reasons. Itâs usually used for people who have wackass defects like microstomia, or have other disfigurements around the mouth. Many surgeons would abide against this because of the noticeable Jeff the killer like scarring it leaves, but just like all other surgeries, the scar will heal. This surgery has left a number of people satisfied.
Case A: filler, fibroblasting, implantCase B: Surgical lip lift, Botox lift lip, threads
Case C: all of the above
Even though Reddit is full of autists, theyâve got r/DIYaesthetics and a few other communities that specialize in diy cosmetic procedures. I scanned through the communities and found a couple websites they recommend that sell filler along with other products.
