Doesn't apply to adults ( sort of ) but if you are young not having to clock in to a job is the best.

Almost all of my friends from HS are "clocking" into something and it's utterly cringe, whether it be a part time job or some pre-requisite class to their degree. ( Some of them are already doing a degree )

I want to first make it clear that I'm referring to not having the "need" to work. It's gay if you are leeching off your parents a fair amount just because you can't man up / take responsibility.

Not having the need to work = you get to work on yourself and stuff, spend time how you want, not having to follow some schedule made by some other geriatric employee who seeks to exploit you to the limits of his conscious and the law.

Unless your job is contributing to something you otherwise wouldn't have access to like an apprenticeship to a career you want or money you need, do not work. It's stupid.

it's easier to imagine the end of the world, then to imagine the end of capitalism
People used to be self employed. In the ~50s in my country, if you weren't a serf you would be selling handmade items, running family businesses etc.

My grandfather's father was a wealthy man who was most importantly SELF EMPLOYED. He sold furniture and only furniture. My grandmother ran her own food stall which eventually turned into a family run restaurant that's still in operation today ( and is earning a lot )

But then there was a paradigm shift no? The jobs are all corporate now. Work under someone for some giant conglomerate and your only meant to climb that ladder. Anything else is seen as "risky".

The only time some conventional corporate or mainstream job is decent is if you have some legit very unique specialism or track record and you are in very high demand. You can actually leverage for good pay and get more independence than most people have today.

Additional note : My folks did all this and managed to educate such a large family and pay to raise them all healthily in a nice environment. My Dad who is "educated" in a more "economically advanced" society considers raising 2 kids a financial struggle despite earning 95+ percentile salary.

What a joke

they took everything from us and called it progress. we used to live—build with our hands, share food with people we loved. our worth wasn’t measured in numbers, quotas, or how many hours we could trade for a paycheck. now every second of our lives is rented out to someone richer, more invisible. they hollowed the world and sold us back a cheap replica.

the worst part is no one even asks why. they’re too tired. we’re all too tired. you wake up already behind. you breathe and feel in debt for it. you dream of escape, but there’s no “outside” anymore — just different brands of captivity. and when you scream, the void screams back in: “grind harder,” “be your own boss,” “monetize your hobbies.” bro, i don’t want to monetize anything. i just want my life back.

sure, you can save yourself. play the game well. buy your comfort, your distance, your illusion of freedom. but the system doesn’t change — it just kills slower. and it’ll still grind the next person under while you sip your overpriced coffee in peace. they made it so imagining life without them feels like madness. but maybe madness is what freedom feels like when you’ve only known the cage.
