Purchase a shampoo and conditioner for curly hair, take care of your curls. For now I would say to grow it out a little bit.
Now, I don't know you so I don't know what hair porosity you have, but I do know a lot of wavy/curlyhead folks have low porosity, so purchase hair products that are safe for curls and waves. Avoid sulfates and proteins if you have low porosity hair.
There is a way to figure out your hair porosity. A quick google search will help you
