Well my opinion is based on sufi mysticism and the seven stages of love as a model. In it, you would understand that everyone has it own faults and and there's a disillusionment with the person that not everyone can recover from. But a different kind of commitment. As well with my companions my main interest is to build a life together, projects companies and to avoid friction at the most.
And yes there's no excuse for cheating, but you have to put yourself as well on the eyes of those who cheat Assuming, that nobody leaves eden for the unknown but one is expelled from it.
There's obviously serial cheaters but not everyone has that flaw, and you could filter out by looking at their last relationship as well as having a longer courtship, more time spent as boyfriends. And yes, there's no bad side of engaging with caution, but extreme caution erodes the trust in the relationship.
As well on a different understanding of love i believe, i read John Milton's paradise lost and came to my realization that love is a choice and we choose the ones we love at the end.
And well maybe it's my catholic/jewish upbringing speaking through me but tbh, marriage it's only between god and you.
