There are way too many lazy rage-baiters on this website and it’s gotten to the point where it’s not even entertaining anymore. Spamming emojis isn’t humor, and the only reason people still engage is because they’re bored. It’s not some fresh or clever idea anymore; we’re oversaturated. There’s just too much quantity over quality.

I've only started being active for the past few days and I'm already getting tired, lol.

i do agree. most new members will leave due to the abrupt flood of stupid posts and the fact it’s not particularly new user friendly here. i have to google half of what anybody says and even then it’s random incel shit. i think since the trend has mostly died on tiktok, the only people genuinely interested are being turned into incels. why stay here if that’s the case? many other incel centric websites to indulge in. also, if you act a certain way or don’t find humor in being outrageous and spitting slurs after every other sentence, you aren’t welcomed. so the sense of community isnt even there.

Looksmaxxing was deemed a male-only concept up until Dean allowed this forum to multigendered, and even then it's the only one of its kind. Looksmaxxing branches off and depends very heavily on incel ideology and doesn't exist in a world where incel ideology does not exist.

Incels believe that if you are born ugly (or at a genetic disadvantage) then that means you're fucked, where looksmaxxing believes that if you are born ugly (or at a genetic disadvantage) then that means you're fucked but you could probably address it.

It's in a funny way similar to Christians. There's a lot of different 'types' of churches that believe in slight differences to each other, but they all depend on the Bible.

It's not open to outsiders because incel ideology is inherently hostile to outsiders.

I appreciate you guys giving your honest thoughts

this is not something I want, but I'm not really sure how to tackle the problem either

I think we already have pretty strict moderation, does it need to be stricter?

would appreciate hearing your opinion

just to add to this I don't even know if this problem can be solved tbh

Lol yeah, for everyone’s first time on here you’ve gotta learn the terminologies through the incel wiki. Heck, I’m still learning.

Didn’t know what ER was until yesterday lmao

And I’m 3k posts in

i will be honest, you are way too well intentioned for a place like this to be beneficial long-term. LOL, it’s the fact you care about moderation and how new members feel that i don’t think it will survive super long. like randomized said, it’s a specific ideology. incels arent known for care or even useful advice. the reason incel and men only forums thrive is because they bond on the common enemy, in this case being women or society, and also love hating themselves. most other forums don’t moderate, they’re racist, sexist, homophobic— they turn into some pretty famously horrific cases for a reason. in my opinion, there isn’t a solution since the issue is at the core of the ideology, not the website

It's hard because if I were in your shoes I'm not sure I would've done anything differently. The biggest problem is right now most of the activity is in the Off Topic section and users are inherently rewarded with lackluster activity that does not contribute to the overall mission of the site.

You should consider making the Off Topic category a neutral category. Users should probably not get their 'Reputable' and 'Established' titles if most of their activity is in Off Topic. As in, if the requirement to get Established is to make 500+ posts (as an example, I don't know the exact qualifications), and 450+ of those posts were in Off Topic, for the sake of the title the user has only earned 50+ posts towards earning that title.

Posts in Off Topic should still overall contribute to a users post count and reputation points obviously, but they shouldn't contribute to the cosmetic banners in my opinion. This gives less of a visual reward and helps guests who are viewing the site to understand that the titles are related to looksmaxxing content and not overall forum activity. As a long term lurker, everyone had an 'Established' title when I browsed the forums and at the time I didn't know what that meant. It was confusing at first until I realized it was exclusively a post count thing. Users are already rewarded for their overall post count with the achievement system.

Great points tbh, I'll shift my post style a bit, try to guide the convos differently although I'm slowly falling out of here, won't make much of a difference.

I didn't realize how harsh it was for new users, because I've been around around the terminologies for so long at this point, and I would think it's easier to get into than .org but .org isn't as tightly bound, much easier to seep in. Which has its drawbacks and benefits.
just to add to this I don't even know if this problem can be solved tbh
I don't think it can bro, and to be honest it's no one to blame but just the websites names and who it attracts. I've observed all of the users before me, in 2019-2020, 2021, mostly incels. So its improved in that regard.

thanks for typing this out @sup, I get what you're saying for sure

with that being said, i really feel there's a world where this forum can exist and is actually helpful to people wanting to improve their looks - along with a community that isn't completely hateful (i.e. something along the lines of bodybuilding.com forum when it was around).

there is definitely a gap in the market for a space where people can come together and share opinions on how to look better

but yeah, I don't know if I'm being delusional thinking that or not lol

that actually could be a good idea and not something I've thought about before

it is actually possible to do that with Xenforo

the only issue is that if I do that, then the people who have posted in off-topic and got their posts up will keep this number (i think), while new members would not have the same privilege

I completely agree with you. This is the exact objective/mission that made me pick .com over .org as my home site for this type of content. I do believe it's possible and I do think it'd be worth it to get there, but it's going to take a lot of effort that would burn most people out.

I could be incorrect about this as I haven't used Xenforo in a while, but I fixed this problem with my old site by deleting all of the data associated with the old banners and created 'new' ones with the exact same data but without the user data attached. It removed it from pre existing users and automatically added the new banners to those who met the new qualifications.

appreciate the kind words @Randomized Shame you a real one

yeah, I think the way you suggested would work - I might need to discuss this with the other mods and hear their thoughts, but definitely could be something I do in the future

I think someone also said to make reps worth more in Looksmaxxing Questions and Relevant Looksmaxxing threads, Don’t know how easy to do this in Xenforo tho, I assume not easy

hmm, I might have a look into it @Whitepill - that's also another good idea thank you

The fact that we have an owner who reads posts, interacts with the community, asks and seeks out feedback, wants to create a community for everyone - I think is what's most important to the sites health. I'm pretty optimistic for the future. I think the biggest struggle would be motivation amongst 'staff' and user retention rates. Counting you're competing directly with .org and their activity is strong.

I actually found this site through SEO.You should ask your team (I'm assuming it's mainly volunteer moderators but I'm not sure) about producing original content on the official social media channels. I thought the interview with Dr. Mew was really well done and interesting. Maybe stuff like that but more specialized for the social media platforms so you get pushed into their algorithms.

That's all I can currently think about in regards of 'improving' the site's content/community. Having a diverse and active community would probably fix a lot of the hostility towards new users as it'd be more normalized and more content overall would be produced, which means more higher quality content.

If there's anything I can do to help, let me know. I want the site to succeed. :peepoLove:

Its a tough issue to deal with because it's not a big deal, but I complain because it’s not funny to me. it doesn’t technically break any rules, and banning people over something so minor could make the site seem overly strict and drive users away. It’s the same kind of problem that led to .org losing a lot of people. so this is all to say i guess so i dont have the greatest advice for you
