Discussion Thoughts on the political and economical state of the world rn?

society is all about incentive structures. these breakdown if society does not reward hardwork and leads to shitholes like the current state of westerm europe
wait until ppl are homeless and starving to death on the street, then tell me about why the state of the s&p 500 is the most important thing.

the state of the sp500 is people's savings and pensions, so yeah it is the most important thing

homelessnes is a feature of society, not a bug. the way to fix it is by getting a job

we will no longer have jobs when ai has replaced us all for the sake of line go up.

most people work for a living they don't receive dividends much less live off of them.

AI will displace jobs like the internet and the factory. i dont think it will erase them, and even if it does, we still want to reward people who work more than those who do not

you'd be surprised, many people invest. even if they don't they will have pensions where the funds are held in stocks/ETFs or take out mortgages/loans backed by securities etc. the financial system is extemely interconnected so something as simple as opening a bank account tethers you to the failure/success of the sp500

(and that's not even getting into the fact the sp500 reflects something very real - roughly the value of technology products being produced in the US. swings reflect shifts in consumer spending and equate to job losses and hiring)

it's fair to say at this rate of innovation no ones really knows what the implications will be long term, it's not irrational to be pessimistic and if there's one thing that's been proven already it's that the rich will never miss an opportunity to "innovate" at the expense of the working class.

I'm not talking about the 5k you have invested, the money markets in general (to say nothing of our tax system or how the Fed just types money into existence on a computer screen and (((banks)))charge you interest for it.) are extremely rigged toward the untra wealthy, insider trading, etc.

I agree that banks are a complete scam, this is why we need crypto

but I would counter that the ultra wealthy do things at the expense of the working class. if anything it is the opposite. they tend to have savior complexes and so will act to help the poorest in society at the expense of the everyone else. this fucks up the incentive structures and kills the middle class completely which is what we are seeing in western society rn

I do see rich people being charitable but my understanding is it's just purely for tax reasons not out of love lmao

ik food stamps were just cut, and millions of jobs are being outsourced to foreigners and ai but ig thats all part of the plan. soon there won't even be a middle class.
