Tretinoin and why you don't need accutane
Thread music:

Greetings bhais and foids, here I will be discussing Treitinoin and why you likely don't need accutane, pretty water guide but some iqlets here will likely go muh accutane:omegalul: on every acne based question.
What tretinoin actually is

Tretinoin is a topical Vitamin A derived retinoid that helps with acne, epidermal differentiation and collagen synthesis and skin pigmentation, its been reviewed and established as a legitimate acne and photoaging assisting cream, it is potentially assisting melasma, postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, striae distensae, flat warts, alopecia areata, androgenetic alopecia, hypertrophic scars and keloids, and actinic keratosis but that's just experimental as of now so its just a theory.
How does tretinoin actually work?
Tretinoin works by increasing cell turnover opens up pores and removes of the blockage and debris on the surface of your skin, it also helps to build up the collagen in the deeper layers, it does this by binding to retinoic acid receptors in your skin (predominantly RARa, RARy and RARb) which in cause turns to cellular changes and skin shedding, once your skin sheds itll be replaced with new skin that has been affected by the tretinoin, which affects collagen and skin texture.
Tretinoin vs Accutane

Tretinoin is literally just a topical and less extreme version to accutane, that's why accutane is called isotretinoin, although accutane is highly effective it also has many more side effects than tretinoin, treitnoin has the same end goal, has less side effects but is also safer, with accutane you need regular blood tests unlike tretinoin, and realistically you don't need accutane unless its for extreme cases, so tretinoin is a 100% valid option unless for major cases, thats where accutane should be prescribed or bought.

lol they have different use cases, jfl at this false argument. Trets primary action is binding to RAR topically stimulating an anti aging effect. Whereas accutane works by reducing oil glands, and has a fairly low affinity to RAR’s meaning it has a less of an anti aging effect. Accutane has more side effects due to be taken orally through hyper vitaminosis, however it wouldn’t be as much side effects as taking a equivalent amount of vitamin A orally due to the modified structure adding a -cis group to it

u prolly dont need it if u dont have severe cases of acne

Different use cases, you can blast accutane for 6 months and never get acne again, due to perma shrinking the oil glands. You can’t really do that with tret
