My coworkers and I hve a ton of downtime when kids don’t show up for class, idk what more to talk about with them brahhhh. I’ve pretty much given up on trynna make friends but idk how to even chat with them without being awkward, like they’ll ask me about my day or if I did anything and idk what to say:sadge:

Side note, today a milf parent told me for the second time that she likes my hair so that’s a highlight :blobdance:

Just give up on it you just pretty much don’t need it, i’ve realized myself that when i do this i just end up draining myself from the small talk, its really unnecessary and tbh you will prolly wont find anyone irl that really shares the exact same interests as you

I was just talking to @Tear about this!! I have no idea how to make friends, my only hobbies are rotting on forums, playing games, watching Youtube, and wageslaving.

I’m not an introvert or asocial though, I just have social anxiety

Like maybe if I had friends and stuff, small talk would drain me, but that isn’t the case

But that’s doesn’t happen most of the time though, they usually start a convo, I reply and then ask them stuff back. But I’m never able to start one with them and I feel like they don’t like the burden of always filling up the silence

I tried this and it didn't work AT ALL idk
Like don’t ask them super broad random questions
Like if they mention they’re going shopping later, you can be like “I do like all my shopping online, which mall are you going to?” Instead of like “oh cool..what color is the sky gonna be tonight?”

Just ask them about themselves most people usually just like to hear themselves talk

The best state of friendship is the stage where silence doesn’t bother either of you

Oh my gosh you're so smart
Genius

Keep asking them about themselves, people love to talk about themselves, that’s what I do because I never have anything going on

How do u do this, as a guy, without out making it seem like I’m trynna pry or get too personal though

And this is awesome because this can branch off into even more conversation, they might comment on your online shopping habits and share their experiences and bla bla yadanyada

I’m not very sure how different men speak to each other, but I’d say you can ask your questions in like an eager positive voice..wide eyed..like almost as if you’re giving them the signal that if they answer you, you’ll have a lot to reply with, I feel like It’d only be weird if you asked randomly placed questions in this oddly unenthused voice

My coworkers are all women

Just for any topic I don’t know shit about sports. Just ask them things about themselves that are relevant to the topic
Those types of topics never come up though, or maybe they do but I can’t put two and two together

I’d say it’s about the same, and if they give you retarded boring answers even after you repeatedly give feedback, share your experiences, and or ask branch off question, it’s probably your sign to just give up

Ig I’m kinda scared to ask them questions like that cause, if they ask them back, I pretty much hve nothing to say

Like for example, today she was telling me bout her coming back from an Arizona trip. I would’ve asked her more about it like what she did and stuff, but would literally hve nothing to answer with if she asked stuff back like if went on vaca anywhere recently, etc

Whenever they flip the table, just be honest tbh. Like yeah I’ve done barely any ___ this summer…to be honest I don’t do this or that..I’ve never actually done __, I know it’s crazy, so tell me is it worth it???
And then just flip it back around and ask them more crap. Personally I enjoy listening/reacting to people’s stories, so this is more entertaining for me

If I’m that honest, and do that for literally every single thing, wouldn’t I come off pathetic though

With vacations I feel like people will either tell you nothing about them, or EVERYTHING about them, just go for the questions
And honestly you can just fucking lie if you feel embarrassed that you haven’t done something.

I’d hve to lie bout my whole life then :sadcat: :sadcat:

This same thought rings in my mind, and the way I get through it is just by reminding myself who gives a fuck? Are they gonna bully me because I don’t travel to Florida 5 fucking times a year? Because that would be shitty on their part. I don’t need to be out and about all the time to be classified as normal in their eyes, why should I care what this normfag thinks of me

I got a bit personal there whoops, anyways I’d say I come off as honest instead of pathetic. Or it could just be me coping. If you make it seem like you’re chilling with your reality, they’ll probably be chill with it too

What is it about these coworkers that makes them so different from you? Like the activities they partake in..is there really no common ground between you guys? It’s hard to believe you’d have to lie about everything

But there’s a difference between not traveling to fl 5 times a year and never even leaving ur room :sadge:

It isn’t just my coworkers, it’s pretty much everyone. I just hve had very little experiences in my life. Lived in the boonies part of town as a kid so could never meet with friends after school. Always had very few friends in general. Lost them all after high school. Never travelled much or did many activities/sports etc cause my folks were always working like crazy, etc etc

Well you’ve still definitely had experiences, so maybe instead of introducing new ones, you can recycle old memories and pretend they happened a few months ago or even last weekend. I’ve done it before

I just can’t bring myself to lie mayn, feels like I’m lying to myself too, and that makes me feel like a cuck:peeposhy:
The last time there was shit going on in my life was legit middle school :pepehands:

Who cares if it was in middle school? There’s no limit to the larp, if you’re that neurotic about it you can try fabricating the story beforehand :wesmart:

Idk bro, i appreciate the advice ofc but I just couldn’t do this. Like let’s say even if this works and I somehow befriend someone doing this, it’d all be based on lies. That just wouldn’t sit right with me

The reason I said you should use your old experiences is because there’s still some truth to them, they happened to you but just not as recent as you paint it to be..and tbh I’d only recommend doing this if you really had to
Lying all the time would be bad

I suppose, the experiences are legitimately very few though. Like I was so young I can barely even remember them vividly

I feel like the best solution would be to gain new experiences. But I just hve difficulty doing things all by myself. So it’s pretty much a catch 22
