It was fine in my opinion. I thought the file mechanic was pretty cool and interesting especially for when it was first getting popular. It's kinda inspired a lot of games to do similar stuff too.

I didn't think it was ever a really ground breaking concept even as a kid though (writing wise), I thought it was clever but I was never invested into it emotionally. I think when compared to other visual novels though I think it's probably in the top categories.
