I think the ideal is to maintain a ratio of 2:1 meat to 1 carbohydrate. A protein-based diet proves to be energy inefficient because the body starts using protein as an energy source instead of carbohydrates. Therefore, ideally you should eat carbohydrates equivalent to half the weight of the amount of protein you consume daily. For example, if I eat 500 grams of meat daily, I should consume between 200 and 300 grams of carbohydrates per day for maximum performance in training and in general daily life.
