In this guide, I will go thru the necessary steps of removing a skin milia.

Spoiler: What are milia?

First, what is are milia? Milia are tiny, firm, pearly-white or yellowish cysts that form just under the skin. They happen when a protein called keratin gets trapped in small pockets instead of shedding normally

Second, is it safe to do at home? Yes, it’s completely safe as long as you have the ability to sterilize your equipment.

How to: First, select your cutting tool (personally I used a safety pin). Next, clean the tool as well as the area being cut, wiping both with some type of alcohol (do not blow to dry, as that can spread germs). Lastly, put slight tension in the area by stretching your skin, making it easier to penetrate. Your goal isn’t to remove the buildup in one go, it’s to make an exit for it. Now you can try to push the keratin buildup using your fingers (not recommended) or q-tips.
