Now many people online I’ve noticed tend to say that you shouldn’t train your masseter muscles (muscle in your jaw responsible for chewing food) and you should only work on activating temporalis muscle (muscle on the top side of your forehead above ears) because it grants your forward growth over time (CCW rotation). Many say this because they believe that when you over train your masseter muscles you are also causing downward growth. I am to say this is NOT true, so far after maybe 3 months of hard chewing foods and mastic gum I have had no downward growth and quite the opposite in fact, before I used to be on the more recessed side when it came to my chin, turns out now all of the sudden I now have a prominent chin that now lines up with my nose. This is because when you hard chewing foods foods your also training the temporalis muscle with your masseters along side meaning anyone who says masseter training causes downward growth is coping as no one gets it as long they have their temporalis working as well. Next I would like to talk about another thing with masseter training no one seems to talk about, and that is growing your masseters helps with hollowness in your cheeks. When your grow your masseters you stretch and tighten the skin around your cheeks, you can test this by clenching your jaw. Bigger masseters also add on support under the zygomatic bones (cheekbone) responsible for playing a big role in hollow cheeks, this includes being lean. The masseters specifically help in this because with masseters being small, the zygos won’t have anything to shadow over. This is why I believe masseter training is important as long as you don’t have face fat because this will make you look like a squirrel with nuts in its mouth, be warned
