The correct arguement would be women were the first to take care of their appearance to a big degree, but saying they're the original looksmaxxers is just ignoring so much things that have happened.

I think maybe the issue comes from men reacting so strongly to lack of action from women (NOT being interested, NOT initiating conversation) rather than insults

Where on the other hand women are often publicly insulted by men and are typically expected to just move forward since “men will be attracted to them anyways”

Both are expected to be attractive, both get treated better or worse depending on attractiveness, but only one gets blamed as they are less conditioned to quiet and forgiving

the origin of the exclusion and hatred is on the premise that women are socially oppressing men. i agree these men feel social exclusion and rightfully depressed and upset about it. i understand that much and i relate to it.

but this blame on women is prescribed to them and women are labelled as the origin of their issues rather than mental health, and the emotional alienation men face between each other.

women face similar challenges with lookism and ugly women feel the same feeling of lack of femininity and sense of belonging but cope with it differently because of gendered socialization outlining how men should express their feelings. furthermore women as an already oppressed class are easy targets to blame as it aligns with common stereotypes of promiscuity and ruthlessness.

the challenges women and men face are not too different but they are dealt with vastly different. that is the origin of the problem.

this also relates to why immigrants are blamed for job loss (instead of blaming systemic issues, marginalized groups are the perpetrators) and so on.

I agree with first bit, but prevalence of hypergamy as it is defined in spaces like this (as opposed to the traditional definition of hypergamy of “marrying up” or getting w someone with higher resources) is questioned, and stands as more of an idea rather than a statistically significant fact
