My thoughts is it is a simulation and we are being kept here by aliens. Thus we are souls just placed into human bodies. So we have certain expectations of what aesthetics are supposed to look like. Like if a soul was told they must be in a hairy smelly neanderthal ogre caveman body with protruding brow they would complain about it.
