Hi! My main goal is to get really solid abs. I’ve kinda worked out on and off during high school and I did track and cross country. When I started college I fell off a bit but now I’ve been doing core focused workouts for the past 3 months at least 3 days a week and I feel like I’m barley seeing gains. It’s probably my diet I assume? If anyone has any tips lmk (1st pic is me on Jan 23, 2nd is be as of April 10th)

knockoff of keto carnivore, pretty high fat. i do not have dairy unless its raw butter (kinda pointless, since butter is barely a dairy anyway but i like the flavour more).
i do have a small amount of fruit occasionally (once a week maybe less, and only in very small portions. usually ill have it right before a workout so if it does affect my blood sugar it will be used up immediately)
and i have up to 3 nuts a day, 1 with honey (not optimal obviously but i enjoy the taste.
have been having coffee lately which is also bad, but its exam season and caffeine pills are not cutting it. i am addicted to caffeine and nicotine which is by far the biggest flaw with my diet right now, but when exams finish i plan to reduce that bc its fucking me over.

goes without saying i havent touched any sort of fast food in years and have not consumed a carb in many months.

Carbs are scary to plan with but as a guy I do NEED a carbs as they are my energy source, but you obviously take care of your diet, my meal preparation is a bit inconsistent, but I’ll lock in trust

are you into a lot of weight lifting/endurance training? i am so the transition was a bit rocky for me, i cut them out during a long holiday so i had a bit of time to adapt without immediately fucking over my performance but ive found that not using carbs for energy has improved my performance a lot. i do swimming, track and lifting.

i think youre at a good bf%. if you were to increase muscle mass id say focus on pecs and shoulders.
in my opinion men get schizophrenic about muscle mass the same way women do about being thin. too much looks bad, and i think maintaining leanness is more important than gaining lots of weight fast.

So up protein, and carbs in order to do that

calorie deficit you won’t see muscle definition until you have a lower bf it’s more difficult for women but lowering your bf will help also could you weights to add to your core workouts

Wow this sounds really solid, frankly I think I’m already in a calorie deficit as I honestly only have breakfast and Linner (lunch/dinner) and it’s usually proportionately small. But my breakfast is usually a yogurt bowl with oats and dried fruit and my linner usually has carbs 🫩

carbs are not inherently bad btw, this is just something that i’m experimenting with right now and that seems to be working. i’ve found that it has rly improved my hunger and that i typically do not need more than 1-2 meals a day and i do not feel hungry. i do not think that the size of the meal if particularly relevant if you are eating well.
do not get schizophrenic about avoiding carbs or fruit, there is no point in history where our ancestors would have seen a delicious berry and said ‘no i can’t eat that, i must stay in a chronic state of ketosis’. fruit and nuts are ok on occasion
